THE CENTER OF HOPE

The Center of Hope is a comprehensive solution that combines a 325-bed low barrier emergency shelter with 72 permanent supportive housing apartments, onsite medical and dental care alongside an award-winning 175-bed drug and alcohol rehabilitation center.

The Center of Hope will provide many Orange County individuals a pathway towards hope, giving them access to comprehensive services—healthcare, job training, and a supportive environment—that helps give them the courage to confront areas of their lives needing urgent attention.

The result of the Center of Hope will be transformed lives, safer neighborhoods and business districts, and the real prospect of ending chronic homelessness in our community.

HOMELESS SERVICES

The Salvation Army operates two emergency shelters that provide homeless individuals with a clean, safe place to stay—the Anaheim Emergency Shelter and the Hospitality House in Santa Ana. Our services include food, clothing, counseling, job search assistance, and integrated employment programs.

Case managers, housing, recovery, and employment navigators work with clients to equip them with tools and bring hope. The goal is not only to provide shelter for people living on the streets, but to provide comprehensive resources that make sustainable life change possible.

Case management is the most beneficial part of the program for me. I have learned to structure my days and realized that I am more than my situation. This place gave me the chance to find stability while I searched for employment. During my stay I was able to get a job, a car, save some money, and move into transitional housing.

Today, William has a stable job and is living in transitional housing, working towards finding a permanent housing solution. Every day on his way home from work, he stops by the Hospitality House, and spends time volunteering and sharing his story with others that have similar experiences.

Alicia never met her parents. She spent most of her teens in foster care. Sadly, she fell victim to a predator who pretended to care about her. Soon, Alicia was being sex trafficked. Only substance abuse helped numb the pain. Eventually, Alicia came to Orange County where—thankfully—local police arrested her trafficker. They brought her to The Salvation Army Orange County’s shelter for sex trafficking victims, called Thatiana’s Home. At Thatiana’s Home, she received food, clothing, and referrals for medical and mental health care.

The Salvation Army also provided Alicia with counseling, job training, and other services to help her start over. Today, she is employed and substance-free. She has also been reunited with her 3-year-old daughter. After she earns her high school diploma, she wants to pursue a higher education so she can support her daughter independently.

ANTI-TRAFFICKING SERVICES

Our anti-trafficking services office is active in crisis response, victim advocacy, recovery support, family reunification. We operate two shelters for trafficking survivors as they journey from crisis recovery to self-sufficiency. Our Guest House serves foreign-born victims of human trafficking and Thatiana’s Home is a safe house for domestic survivors. Thatiana’s Home is the first 24-hour staffed emergency safe home for victims of sex trafficking in Orange County.

FAMILY SERVICES

Our mission is to holistically aid low-income families and individuals by meeting basic needs, providing financial, emotional and spiritual support, and case management services. We operate three Family Service Offices in Orange County: Anaheim, Huntington Beach, and Santa Ana. Whether it’s through rental and utility assistance, providing school supplies and backpacks for youth, or ensuring a warm holiday season for struggling families, The Salvation Army Orange County is here to serve.

The food I get from the Salvation Army not only feeds me, but I am able to give to my neighbors who have more of a need than me. Without the assistance of the Salvation Army, many seniors would go hungry. Vanessa has guided me to the care I need and guide me into programs for rent asssistance. I am beyond grateful for The Salvation Army and all the good they are doing in Orange County.

Maria is 95 years-old and each week she comes to our food pantry in Santa Ana. She has become close with our staff and wants to help her fellow seniors get assistance.

This program has given me the opportunity to recover my faith in God and the courage to regain my life. I have changed my resentment and the way I used to behave because of it. The program has helped me treat other co-dependencies that trigger my addiction. The counseling therapy helped me regain confidence and self-esteem, and has taught me positive ways of thinking and acceptable behavior.

ADULT REHABILITATION CENTER

Combat Addiction

Through holistic work therapy, group and individual counseling sessions, spiritual direction, and life-skills development, program members learn to abandon substance reliance.

Build Work and Social Skills

The physical and spiritual components of the program equip members to provide for themselves and others as they set and maintain sustainable employment goals.

Regain Health and Stability

By developing a personal relationship with God as provided by Jesus Christ, many residents learn to depend on God, rather than drugs or alcohol, for hope and relief.

Restore Families

Many who have been rehabilitated are reunited with their families and able to resume healthy daily routines. Kids get their parents back. People get their lives back.
